In the presentation, Ken also mentioned three myths:

• 
  - Turning off SSID broadcast
  - Using Mac Filtering
  - Turning off DHCP
  

- change your router's default password and use encryption.

- If you change your password, also change the default Router address,

- Use a VPN to hide your router's IP to make access to the router impossible.

This link will show the IP of a non-existent VPN router, not your real router according to my tests.
